The Fergus Falls girls’ tennis team hosted the Brainerd Warriors in Central Lakes Conference action on Thursday.  The Warriors are annual contenders to win their section, and they appeared to be on track to contend again.  Brainerd took the match 6-1.

“We saw some really great things on the court tonight,” commented Fergus Falls Head Coach Jamie Lill.  “We competed so hard and so well with a top notch program.  After a slow start on Tuesday night, the girls really dug in and came out firing on all cylinders.  Brainerd proved to be a little bit more steady and consistent, but we competed very well and the girls have nothing to hang their heads about.  All of our matches were well played, but a highlight match for us was our 3rd doubles match including Mia Marsh and Hannah Anderson.  This duo has been on court together five times and have earned five straight victories.  They are complimenting each other well and we saw more of that tonight.  Mia can track down any ball imaginable and Hannah is utilizing her serving power and wingspan at the net to make some pretty great tennis happen. Mia and Hannah were just named the CLC athletes of the week for their stellar performances.”

Next up for the Otters is a home match on Tuesday, September 14 at 4:30pm against Sauk Rapids-Rice.
