Late Touchdown Lifts Knights Past Barnesville 14-12

The West Central Area/Ashby Knights football team overcame a 12-8 halftime deficit and scored with 1:05 remaining in the game to hand the Barnesville Trojans a 14-12 defeat on Friday night in Barrett.

 

The Knights finished with 214 total yards (143 passing, 71 rushing) and the Trojans had 153 yards, all on the ground.  Barnesville lost 3 fumbles in the game and the only Knight turnover was an interception.

Evan Paulson (8 completions, 14 attempts, 143 yards, TD, 4 carries, 27 yards), Anthony Sykora (7 carries, 34 yards, TD, 1 reception, 8 yards) and Torin Olson (4 receptions, 118 yards) led the Knights on offense.  Defensive leaders were Carson Spangler (6 solo tackles, 1 sack) and Beau Robinson (4 solo tackles, 1 sack).

With 4:25 left in the first quarter Sykora scored on a 29 yard run.   A safety was recorded by the Knights with 9:59 left in the first half.  Their winning score came on a 46 yard pass from Paulson to Olson with just over a minute left in the game.
