The Wheaton Warriors were victorious in their football opener on Friday, handing Ortonville a 47-16 loss on the Trojans home field.  The Warriors led 20-0 after one quarter, 26-0 at the half and 47-0 after three quarters.  A pair of fourth quarter scores by the Trojans allowed them to avoid the shutout.

Marshall Tolifson broke loose for a 55-yard touchdown run early in the first quarter and Tim Blume scored the two-point conversion to give the visitors an 8-0 lead.  Blume’s 4-yard run made it 14-0 and Tolifson’s 3-yard scamper late in the quarter pushed the lead to 20-0.  Grant Dawson then hauled in a 43-yard toss from Tolifson in the second quarter and the Warriors took a 26-0 lead into the locker room at halftime.

In the third quarter Dawson caught a 7-yard TD pass from Zach Braaten and Cint Determan added the extra point kick to increase the Wheaton lead to 33-0.  Braaten then scored a pair of TD’s on runs of 6 and 19 yards and Determan added two more PAT kicks to run the score to 47-0 at the end of three.

Ortonville scored on a 28 yard run and a 39 yard pass in the fourth quarter, converting both of their two-point conversion tries.

Wheaton finished with 385 total yards, 138 through the air and 247 on the ground.  Tolifson completed 9-of-10 passes for 121 yards and carried the ball 9 times for 63 yards.  Dawson was the leading receiver with 4 receptions for 65 yards.  Defensively, Brayden Hofer had an interception for the Warriors and Bryant Callenius led them with 9 tackles, including 3 tackles for loss.

Ortonville had 285 total yards with 216 rushing yards and 69 passing yards.  Both teams had 17 first downs.
