Arndt and Stueve Lead OTC to Victory in Breckenridge

The Ottertail Central Bulldogs started the high school football season with an impressive 22-8 win at Breckenridge on Friday night.  Quarterback Tanner Arndt had a big night, completing 7-of-13 passes for 105 yards and running for 34 yards on 10 rushing attempts and scoring two TD’s.  Calvin Stueve had 92 yards on 18 carries and Mason Hammer added 69 yards on 16 touches.  Stueve also had two catches for 36 yards and Owen Buehler had two receptions for 35 yards.

OTC scored the first touchdown of the night on s 4 yard run by Stueve.  The two-point conversion pass failed and the Bulldogs led 6-0.  Breckenridge took an 8-6 lead when Cam Nieto ran the ball 75 yards for the score and James Mertes scored on the two-point conversion run.

The Bulldogs took a 14-8 lead in the second quarter when Arndt scored on a one-yard keeper.  Arndt then connected with Blaine Wallevand on the two-point conversion pass.

The final score of the night was an 8 yard TD run by Arndt in the third quarter.  He also scored on the two-point conversion run to increase the Bulldogs lead to 22-8.

Nieto was the leading rusher for the Cowboys, gaining 81 yards on 9 rushing attempts.  Mertes had 50 yards on 9 carries.  Bailey Evans was the leading receiver with 23 yards on his only catch of the night.  Nieto completed 2-of-4 passes for 26 yards in the game.

Arndt intercepted a pass and the Bulldogs recovered a fumble, defensively.  The Bulldogs had no turnovers in the game.

OTC finished with 217 rushing yards and 105 passing yards for 322 total yards.  They compiled 21 first downs and had 63 offensive snaps in the game, possessing the football for 31 minutes and forty-eight seconds.  They were 8-of-14 on third down conversions and also converted 4-of-5 fourth down tries.

Breckenridge had 174 total yards on 148 rushing yards and 26 passing yards.  They had 8 first downs and ran 28 offensive plays.  Their offense had the ball for only sixteen minutes and twelve seconds.

Breckenridge will host Parkers Prairie next Friday night and Ottertail Central travels to Pillager.
