“It took the Battlers awhile to find a spark and it came in set 3 behind the serving of Ellie Gibbs (15/15, 5 aces),” said Head Coach Jenny Roisum. “We continued to improve through the match, taking sets 3 and 4. We had the momentum going into set 5, but Bertha-Hewitt found some new energy. The fifth set was tied at 13 and the Battlers had their chances to close out the match, but just fell short. We improved in many areas from Tuesday and gained a ton of game experience in these 5-set matches.”
Grace VanErp (21 kills, 6 blocks, 14 assists), Kalyer Brandner (16 digs, 13/14 serving), Morgan Malone (6 kills, 5 digs, 11/11 serving) and Ady Tysdal (6 kills, 6 digs) were the leaders for Battle Lake.
