The girls had an amazing day finishing 13th out of 28 teams and #2 among Class A competition. Perham was led by a 1, 2, 3 punch of Gracie Morris, Quincy Anderson, and Leelou Novotny. “Quincy has come into the season in great shape and just looks stronger each day in practice,” commented Head Coach Jeff Morris. “She right now has been our leader and with our youth will help our youth make big jumps as the season progresses. Liz Birkeland had a great race dropping a minute from the last race, while Aspen Rohde improved 30 seconds from the last race while losing one shoe in the first 800 meters of the race. Aspen showed some big-time grit today.” Kaia Starzl and Mia Lung rounded out the top 7 for the Jackets.

The youth of the boys made a nice jump, finishing just behind Staples #1 and Minnehaha #6 finishing 23rd out of 34 teams. “Caden Doll is establishing himself as a top runner in Class A running 17:20 in his 2nd meet,” noted Coach Morris. “Frosh Bjorn Anderson and Carter Flatau both had great races running 17:55 and 18:12, respectively. We added Micah Thompson back into the lineup while senior Jakob McCleary fresh off a state title this spring will be opening up next Friday in Moorhead. Micah in his first race ran 18:38. Rounding out the top 7 are 3 new varsity runners Brayden Glorvigen, Blake Swenson, and Dylan Guck. They are very young and have tons of upside. Today was a great step forward. All 3 had personal bests and Blake Swenson also lost a shoe in the first mile so we know there is more there. 

The boys and girls will be at the Moorhead Twilight, Friday, September 10th.
