Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley defeated Ashby 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-11) in a high school volleyball match on Thursday night.

“This game was a battle and we fought hard,” commented Ashby Head Coach Hayley Stevens.  “After three it felt as if we had been on the court much longer.  The girls dug down and came back after some big deficits.  Crucial missed serves and movement on the court to jump after some big hitters made us falter.  CGB has attackers, and arm swinging that didn’t seem to stop.  We struggled to slow balls down and get a full block so the balls came fast and were hard to make clean plays after that.  We played scrappy, but that wasn’t enough tonight.  We adjusted and I was happy with how the girls kept fighting until that last point.  We have a couple of important practices to prepare us for our first conference game as we travel to Underwood on Tuesday.”

The Arrows were led by Catherine Koefod (5/7 serving, 1 kill, 4 digs), Celi Nelson (9/10 serving, 1 ace, 4 kills, 6 digs), Haleigh Brendmoen (5/6 serving, 1 ace, 1 kill, 4 digs), Kyra Aamot (8/9 serving, 3 aces, 10 digs), Lucy Ohren (9/9 serving, 2 aces, 5 digs), Livy Johnson (4 kills, 2 digs) and Ryleigh Brendmoen (8/11 serving, 3 aces, 2 kills, 10 digs).
