Alexandria Boys Blank Otters Behind Hat Trick by Carlson

The Alexandria Cardinal Boys Soccer team travelled up I-94 to take on the Fergus Falls Otters in the first Central Lakes Conference matchup of the season on Tuesday night. “Being a 2 point game, the Cardinals were ready to play,” commented Head Coach Brandon Johnson of Alexandria. “The speed of play is only increasing as possession becomes a main theme this season.”

The goal scoring opened early as the Cardinals found 3 goals in the first 3 minutes of play.

Goals came as follows:

In the 1st minute of play, Peter Sansted assisted by Sam Peterson

In the 3rd minute of play, Jack Carlson assisted by Colin Reilly

In the 3rd minute of play, Jack Carlson assisted by Peter Sansted

In the 15th minute of play, Otto Anderson found his first Varsity level goal, assisted by Myles Sansted

In the 34th minute of play, Jack Carlson took a shot, which bounced off an Otter defender for an own goal.

In the 36th minute of play, Jack Carlson completed his hat trick, assisted by Cole Haabala

This ended the half with a score of 6-0.

The second half goals came as follows:

In the 48th minute of play, Bryce Paffrath took the ball up field by himself and finished his first Varsity goal with an assist from Ryan Muewissen.

In the 58th minute of play, Otto Anderson assisted by Cole Haabala.

“We played a stronger possession game in the second half,” noted Coach Johnson, “working primarily on a numbers up approach to the final attacking third. I thought we played well and as a team.”

Alexandria is currently 2-0 on the season and will host Pelican Rapids Thursday at 7:00pm.
