Dummer Finishes Eleventh to Lead Otter Girls in Cross Country Opener

The Fergus Falls girls’ cross country team opened their season on Monday at the Central Minnesota River Run, hosted by Staples-Motley High School.  The Otters were fifth out of eight complete teams in the race, scoring 116 points.  The event was won by the host Cardinals with 22 points.  Park Rapids Area was second with 70, followed by United North Central 75, Detroit Lakes 101, the Otters 116, Crosby-Ironton 132, New York Mills 196 and Hill City 218.

Top Fergus Falls runners were Naomi Dummer (23:13.6) in eleventh place, Sarah Grotberg (24:13.7) in 21st place, Ainsley Hansen (24:31.8) in 23rd place), Rebecca Schindler (24:45.6) in 27th place and Julia Anderson (25:39.3) in 34th place.  Ellia Soydara (27:23.3) and Miah Schmidt (27:24.4) rounded out the Fergus Falls varsity results.

Staples-Motley had the top three finishers in Kyanna Burton (20:06l8), Aften Robinson (20:13.9) and Audrey Brownell (20:59.6).  Anjalie Aho (20:59.9) of United North Central was fourth and Julia Steffl (21:29.0) of Detroit Lakes came in fifth.
