The Fergus Falls girls swim team finished second overall at the Detroit Lakes Lakers Pentathlon, with senior Emilie Carlson recording the third highest individual score of all swimmers in the meet with 91 points. Irene Mursu of Perham/New York Mills had 106 points to take second place and Faith Hamm of Detroit Lakes had 107 points to claim the top spot. DL won the event with a score of 425.5 and the Otters scored 271 points. Third place went to Perham/New York Mills with 194. They were followed by Bemidji (103), Thief River Falls (95.5), Fosston-Bagley (58) and Crookston (18).
“The first meet of the season proved that the Otter Girls swimmers are off to a great start and very competitive in their section,” commented Head Coach Joyce Monk. “This meet was a sneak peek of a great season to come. We had countless best times from our swimmers.”
This Thursday the Otters will host Alexandria at 6:00pm in their first home meet at the Kennedy Secondary School Pool.
