West Central Area and Brandon-Evansville opened the 2021 high school volleyball season with a thrilling five-set match on Friday.  When it was all said and done the Knights walked away with a hard-fought 3-2 (25-11, 25-14, 20-25, 16-25, 15-9) victory over the Chargers.

“We came out on fire in the first two sets,” commented WCA Head Coach Missy Foslien.  “We had some big plays and saves and just looked amazing.  Then there was a five minute break between games two and three with B-E took advantage of.  The girls bounced back in game five and with Mya Foslien (16/17, 4 aces, 1 block, 14 digs, 9 kills) at the service line and Elizabeth Rustan (17 kills, 3 blocks) hitting outside, game five was never a question.”

Other leaders for the lady Knights were Whitney Westrom (22/22 serving, 2 aces, 4 kills), Macy Grosz (30 set assists, 18 digs), Madelyn Westrom (15 digs), Kaitlyn Hansen (32 digs) and Addison Staples (5 set assists).

“I don’t know when the last time the Knights have defeated the Chargers, but this was a sweet win and one that will give them confidence as they begin this road of a season,” stated Coach Foslien.

Brandon-Evansville stats will be added to this story when they are received.
