East Grand Forks scored a pair of early goals on Thursday as they went on to defeat Fergus Falls 3-0 in a high school girls’ soccer game in Fergus Falls.

The Greenwave scored twelve minutes into the game on a shot from outside the 18 on a through ball.  They added a second goal four minutes later off a free kick just outside the 18.

In the second half East Grand Forks scored on a floater that went in just under the crossbar to give them a 3-0 advantage.

“East Grand Forks is a solid team,” said Fergus Falls Head Coach Ben Jurgens.  “They are quick to defend, quick to the ball and quick in their attack.  A very well disciplined team.  We did a lot of things right tonight and we had players step up in new positions.  I thought Ry Krein gave us a huge boost when she entered the game.  We also saw Kiara Grady in a couple new positions and she looked great.  Offensively, we did not possess the ball as long as East Grand Forks in the offensive zone, but we had several rushes that created scoring chances throughout the game.”

The Otters will host Crookston in a 12:00 noon game on Friday.
