The 2020 volleyball season began with a lot of uncertainty due to COVID-19. After a late start the Henning Hornets recorded an undefeated 11-0 season which included a perfect 10-0 Park Region Conference mark. “We never lost a set,” said Head Coach Kristy Finck, now in her twelfth season. “It was just great to play, as we thought we would not have a season. We were cut short as we were quarantined as a team in the end. It was a great group of girls and we played one game at a time!”
Despite losing All-State Player and Park Region Conference MVP Megan Rinicker and All-Conference player Ellie Dague to graduation, the Hornets have a solid nucleus returning for the 2021 season. PRC Defensive MVP Ally Hart (JR), PRC Most Valuable Setter Lyvi Misegades (SO), All-Conference player Faith Fisher (JR), PRC Honorable Mention All-Conference player Grace Hammer (SR) and Emma Severson (SR) all return. Coach Finck will be looking for varsity court time from juniors Gretchen Eckhoff and Becca Frederick.
“We bring back a solid defensive team, along with our returning setter,” noted Coach Finck. “We are a very strong passing team which will help us to run a quick offense. We need to improve our blocking.”
Assistant Coaches are Jessica Iliff and Naomi Horn.
