The Underwood football team finished their season with a 2-4 record in 2020 under first year head coach Ryan Hendrickson.  “Two of the losses and one of the wins were all within one score,” noted Hendrickson.  “We went into every game with young men that really wanted to compete and play well.”

Casey Foertsch, Jason Rogers, Evan Meece and Adam Baker will assist Hendrickson in the 2021 season.

“We lost a few very talented and tough seniors from last season,” said Hendrickson.  “We will miss Reed Leabo (QB), Joey Kupfer (OL/DL), Krosby Aasness (RB/DB) and Slade Moore (FB/LB), but are excited about the returning nucleus we have back.”

Returners include seniors Tristan Evavold (TE/LB), Brien Poser (QB/RB/DB), Jaxon Rich (TE/DE) and Logan Schleske (RB/LB), juniors Connor Campbell (OL/DL) and Hunter Haugen (OL/DL) and sophomore Kale Rich (OL/DL).  Evavold, Rich and Schleske will serve as team captains.

Hendrickson will be looking for junior Conner Nelson (QB/RB/DB) and sophomores Brock Hasling (RB/LB) and Blayre Lundgren (RB/LB) to step in and contribute at the varsity level.

“We have a good mix of returning talent and upcoming talent,” added Hendrickson.  “We should be in a spot where guys are competing for starting spots, making us very competitive.”

As for Section 6A, Hendrickson sees Breckenridge as the favorite with New York Mills bring back a lot of talent again this season.
