The Fergus Falls Riverdogs took a trip to Clarissa on Saturday and lost a slugfest, 12-11. Fergus Falls trailed 12-10 heading into the top of the seventh. The Riverdogs got a two-out single, a walk and an RBI single to trim the lead to 12-11. They had the tying run on third and the go ahead run on first when the game ended on an infield pop up.
Lead-off hitter Chris Wiederich collected a pair of singles, stole a base and scored three runs. Eric Anderson was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, a walk, an RBI and two runs scored. Matt Larson was 3-for-4 with two runs batted in on a double, and also scored twice. Monte Fredrickson added a pair of hits, knocked in two and scored a run. Roger Blevins, Ben Dischinger and Jake Axel each recorded an RBI.
The Riverdogs suffered a 5-4 loss to defending Class AA 35 and over state champion Becker on Sunday. Four straight this by Anderson, Wiederich, Larson and Axel led to 3 runs in the sixth inning, but the Riverdogs came up a run short. Larson’s sixth-inning triple made him 3-for-3 on the day with 3 RBI, a run scored and a pair of stolen bases. Wiederich and Anderson each had 2 hits. John Carello struck out eight batters but took the loss.
