Local Swimmers Compete at Minnesota Last Chance Championship Meets

This past weekend (July 16-18) saw three local swimmers compete at the Minnesota Last Chance Championship Meets.  Christian Reed swam at the New Hope pool, while Matthew and Lucas Tuel swam at the University of Minnesota pool.  All three swimmers had fantastic meets.

Christian Reed competed in the Boys 15-16 division swimming in 4 events.  He had personal best times in all 4 of his events and earned a Gold time in the 50 Free.  He also earned Silver times in the 100 Free, 200 Free and 100 Back.
100 Free – 1:05.69 -7th place
200 Free – 2:24.45 – 10th place
100 Back – 1:17.35 – 2nd place
50 Free – 29.30 – 7th place

Matthew Tuel competed in the Boys 13-14 division swimming in 6 events.  He had personal best times in all 6 of his events and earned
old times in the 1500 Free, 200 Free and 400 Free.  He also earned a Silver time in his 200 IM.   

400 IM – 6:17.73 – 1st Place
400 Free – 5:12.81 – 3rd place
200 Free – 2:28.01 – 6th place
800 Free – 10:46.54 – 5th place
1500 Free – 20:41.53 – 2nd Place
200 IM – 3:00.28 – 3rd place

Lucas Tuel competed in the Boys 9-10 division swimming in 5 events.  He had personal best times in all of the events he swam.  He earned Champ times in all 5 events he swam over the weekend, earning himself a trip to the MN 14&U Long Course State Meet being held July 22 – 25 in Rochester. 
50 Back – 43.42 – 1st place
100 Free – 1:19.98 – 2nd place
400 Free – 6:04.42 – 1st place
50 Free – 36.05 – 3rd place
50 Breast – 53.29 – 1st place

These meets included some of the powerhouse swim teams including Aquajets, SEMS and the Foxjets.  It is quite a feat to go up against competition like this and still come out with personal best times.  All three swimmers had exceptional meets!
