Fergus Falls American Legion Post 30 hosted Eden Prairie in a single game on Wednesday and had Minot in town for a double header on Thursday.  Their scheduled game against Thief River Falls on Friday was forfeited by TRF.

Eden Prairie posted a 7-5 win over Post 30.  Leading hitters for the home team were Carter Thielke (3-3, 2B, 2 RBI), Arik Heacox (2-4) and Cole Zierden (2-4).  Zierden started on the mound and went 4 innings, striking out 3, walking two, allowing 5 hits and 2 earned runs.  Bo Bring finished up on the mound.

Minot won the first game of the Thursday double header, winning 10-4.  Heacox (4.1IP, 6H, 5R, 4ER, 3BB, 4K) started on the mound with Michael DeBrito and Sam Sorum finishing up in relief.  Leading hitters were Thielke (2-3) and Ben Swanson (1-3).

Thielke (3-3), Zierden (2-3) and Andrew Johnson (1-2, 2B) led the way at the plate in the 20-10 loss in game two.  Post 30 used four different pitchers in the game.

“We played two very solid Legion teams this week,” commented Fergus Falls Head Coach Trevor Larson.  “We were a play or two away from beating Eden Prairie, but a couple of plays had to be made and we didn’t make them.  Minot was the best hitting team I have seen at the Legion level.  They hit every fastball that was in the zone hard somewhere.  They also didn’t give their opponent any extra outs.  This week was a learning experience for the boys and we will be better for it.”

Post 30 returns to action on Monday with a home double header against Bemidji beginning at 4:00pm.
