Fergus Falls American Legion Post 30 traveled to Casselton, North Dakota for a Thursday double header.  Post 30 recorded a 5-2 win in game one, but dropped the nightcap, 5-4.

In the opener Carter Thielke (7IP, 2R, 1ER, 8H, 1BB, 6K) got the win with a complete game effort.  Cole Zierden (2-4) and Ben Swanson (1-3, R) led the offensive attack.  Fergus Falls put up single runs in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th innings, before putting up two in the top of the seventh.

Swanson (3IP, 1H, 1ER, 2BB, 1K) started on the mound in game two and was followed by Isaac Johnson, Ethan Gronwold and Bo BringAric Heacox led the way at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a home run.  Post 30 led the majority of the game until Casselton put up 3 runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead.

“We played very well in the first game,” reported Head Coach Trevor Larson.  “Carter always gives us a really good chance to win a ball game.  Even with giving up 8 hits he worked out of jams and threw the ball very well.  We had some timely hitting as well to get guys in from third base.  Game two we did not do a very good job of throwing the ball over the plate.  Eight walks and three errors is not a winning combination against good teams.  We left 11 runners on base.  We will regroup and get on the practice field before a busy week of baseball.”

Post 30 hosts Eden Prairie for a single game on Wednesday, before hosting Minot and Thief River Falls on Thursday and Friday evening, respectively.
