The Fergus Falls Hurricanes got their bats going on Wednesday night as they collected 13 runs on 11 hits on the way to a 13-1 7-inning victory over the Hawley Hawks at American Legion Field at DeLagoon Park in Fergus Falls.  The Canes improved to 7-2 overall and 5-0 in Countryside League play.

Fergus Falls scored twice in the first inning as Alex Hensch singled to lead off the inning, moved to third base on a single by Tosten Mann and scored after a pair of walks forced in a run.  A Mitch Porter sacrifice fly scored Mann with the second run of the inning.  The Canes added a run in the third inning on a run-scoring single by Porter, once again scoring Mann who was hit by a pitch to start the inning.

A single, a wild pitch, a passed ball and a throwing error led to the lone Hawley run in the top of the fourth.  Fergus Falls responded with six runs in the bottom of the inning.  Carter Thielke and Arik Heacox walked to get things started.  Hensch and Sean McGuire followed with RBI singles.  Mann was once again hit by a pitch and Darin Stanislawski blasted a grand slam home run to left field.

Four runs in the bottom of the seventh ended the game by the ten-run rule.  Alex Hexum was hit by a pitched ball and then scored on a Porter triple.  Austin Stanislawski drew a walk and Thielke delivered a sacrifice fly to score Porter.  Carter reached when the outfielder dropped the ball.  Heacox was hit by a pitch to fill the bases and McGuire came through with a two-run single.

Hitting leaders were Hensch (3-4, 2R, RBI), McGuire (2-5, R, 3 RBI), Darin Stanislawski (2-4, HR, R, 4 RBI), Porter (2-2, 3B, R, 3 RBI) and Mann (2-3, 2HBP, 3R).

Thomas Bosek (5IP, 5K, 0BB, 3H, 1R, 0ER) improved to 2-0 with the win.

The Canes will host the Dent Wildcats at 1:30pm Saturday at American Legion Field.
