Fergus Falls American Legion Post 30 started their season with a double header loss to Detroit Lakes on Tuesday, losing by scores of 17-3 and 9-5.

Bo Bring (2.2IP, 6H, 6R, 6ER) started on the mound for Post 30 with the trio of Adam King, Kaden Conklin and Michael DeBrito finishing things up.
“Bo worked out of a sticky situation in the first inning with runners on second and third and no outs,” said Fergus Falls Head Coach Trevor Larson.  “DL was able to push across a run in the third to take a 1-0 lead and then added 8 runs in both the fifth and sixth.”

Offensive leaders were Carter Thielke (2-3, 2B), Andrew Johnson (1-1, RBI) and Isaac Johnson (1-3, 2B, RBI).

“We weren’t able to throw enough quality strikes over the plate and we also booted the ball around too many times to give ourselves a chance to win,” added Larson.

Nathan Kenjalo (3IP, 4H, 4R, 1ER, 4BB, 3K) got the start in game two with Will Gronwold and Ethan Gronwold combining to throw the final three innings.  Thielke (2-3, 3B), Arik Heacox (1-2, RBI) and Owen Krueger (1-3) were the hitting leaders for Post 30.

“We came out and responded well in game two with a more concentrated effort,” reported Coach Larson.  “We still issued 8 walks and had 3 errors that led to our downfall.  We see a lot of areas where we need to improve, but we have a good group of guys that will learn and get better.”

Post 30 is coached by Trevor Larson, Tosten Mann and Spencer Strom.

Their next action is on Wednesday, June 16 at American Legion Field at DeLagoon Park when Post 30 will host Brainerd in a double header with games scheduled to begin at 5:00pm.
