The Fergus Falls boys’ tennis season came to an end at the Section 8A Tournament last week in East Grand Forks.  The Otters, seeded fourth in the team competition, defeated the host Greenwave 6-1 in their quarterfinal round match and then lost to top-seeded Thief River Falls, 6-1, in the semifinals.  The Prowlers went on to post a 6-1 win over Minnewaska Area to claim the Section 8A championship.

Individually, the Fergus Falls doubles team of Noah Tarczon and Matt Niblock, seeded fifth, defeated Minnewaska Area’s duo of Logan Maanum and Aiden Maanum in their first round match and then upset fourth-seeded Jack Garmen and Mason Owens from Crookston in the quarterfinal round.  The top-seeded team of Dylan Hahn and Jack Onkka of Thief River Falls, who eventually won the Section 8A doubles title, defeated the Otters in the semifinals.  When the Prowlers topped Bendon/KMS in the title match, Tarczon and Niblock received an opportunity to face Peyton LeClair and Taylor Duncan in a True Second match, with the Benson/KMS team won 6-2, 6-4.

The Otters other doubles team of Colton Partain and Maveric Kalenburg was eliminated in their first round match.

In singles play, Ben Schierer was the number eight seed.  Schierer beat Jude Johnson-Bohn of East Grand Forks in his first round match and then lost to eventual champion Tate Reichman of Thief River Falls.  Conner Ackerson, seeded 15th, fell to Camden Broadwell of the Prowlers in their first round meeting.  Reichman and Broadwell will represent Section 8A in the Class A State Singles Tournament as section champion and runner-up.

Other than the True Second results, no individual match scores were reported.
