Otters Split Double Header at Sauk Rapids

The Fergus Falls baseball team ended the regular season with a double header split against Sauk Rapids-Rice on Friday.  The Storm took the opening game, 10-0, and the Otters won the nightcap, 12-8.

The Otters managed only one hit in the first game, a fourth-inning single by Carter Thielke.  Sauk Rapids-Rice scored three times in the fourth, added two runs in the fifth and broke the game open with five in the sixth.

Cole Zierden (4IP, 3R, 5H) earned his first varsity win in the second game.  Ian Stumbo (2IP, 3R, 4H, 1BB, K) and Sam Sorum (1IP, 2R, 2H) finished up on the mound for the Otters.

Five different players had two hits apiece, led by Aric Heacox with a pair of doubles and 2 runs batted in.  Thielke had a single a double and 2 RBI, and Bryce Burrill had two singles and two runs batted in.  Zierden and Stumbo each had a pair of singles.

“Good to comeback in the second game and get a win,” said Fergus Falls Head Coach Kevin Pearson.  “Hopefully we can take a little momentum and some increased confidence into the playoffs next week.”

Fergus Falls is seeded sixth and will play at Menahga on Tuesday, June 1 at 5:00pm.
