Otter 12U Baseball Team Takes Down Brainerd

The Fergus Falls Otters 12u team hosted Brainerd 12U in a 9 inning game at DeLagoon Park on Thursday night and came away victorious 17-1. The Otters scored in every inning against Brainerd and held a good Brainerd lineup to just one run.

The Otters jumped on the board in the bottom of the first with Nolan Felstul singling, moving to third on Brody Krein’s double, and coming home to score on Jacob Jenc’s ground out. In the second, Kadyn Zender (BB), Benett Thielke (1b), and Kellen Funkhouser all scored for the Otters with Josh Horgen providing a big single. In the third, Felstul (BB), Krein (BB), and Jenc all reached and scored. Logan Schoon game up with a big single in the inning scoring two runs. In the fourth, Caleb Fronning singled and came home to score on Felstul’s single. Schoon again had a hit that scored Krein. In the fifth, the Otters did their damage with two outs with Fronning doubling home Horgen (2b) and Hunter Welle (HBP). The sixth saw Krein and Jenc scoring. Felstul cleared the bases with a double in the 7th scoring Welle (BB), John Abrahams (1b), and Fronning (1b). Thielke hit home Jenc in the 8th with a single to end the scoring.

The Otters were led at the plate by Felstul (2 1b’s & 2b), Fronning (2 1b’s & 2b), Schoon (3 1b’s), and Thielke (3 1b’s) with 3 hits each, Krein (1b & 2b), Abrahams (2 1b’s), and Horgen (1b & 2b) with 2 hits each and Jenc with one hit.

The Otters received strong pitching performances from Brody Krein (3 IP, 2 hits), Felstul (2 IP, 1 hit), Horgen (2 IP, 1 hit), and Fronning (2 IP, 0 hits). With the win, the Otters move to 8-2 on the season. The Otters travel to Breckenridge on Tuesday, June 1 for a doubleheader before a tournament in Morris on June 5.
