Brandon-Evansville hosted a baseball double header with Border West on Monday with the Chargers winning both games by scores of 6-2 and 19-13.

The Chargers struck quickly in the opener, scoring four first inning runs.  Dezmond White (5IP, 0R, 4H, 4K) turned in a strong performance on the mound.  “Dezmond has been very consistent all year and today was no different,” stated B-E Head Coach Brian Perleberg.  “He threw good, hard strikes while his defense played soundly behind him and we made the big plays when we had to.”  White, Brady Perleberg and Jayden Hoidahl all contributed two hits apiece.

Tyler Bitzan had a monster night at the plate in game two as he went 5-for-6 with a double, a triple and 3 singles.  Hunter Koep collected 3 hits and Brady Perleberg added two more to lead the attack.  Bitzan improved his season record to 4-1 on the mound, going 4 inning, allowing one earned run on 4 hits and striking out two batters.  The Chargers broke a 7-7 tie with a 9-run fifth inning.

“In a game that resembled a football score, I’m just glad we were able to come away with a victory,” said Coach Perleberg.  “We are certainly pleased with how well we swung the bats, but we lacked consistency on defense and on the mound.  We are a young team and still need to find ways to close out games when given the opportunity.  The most important thing is that the kids are having fun and we are learning as we go.  After playing six games in the last week, we are looking forward to a couple days of practice before a big conference double header on Thursday against Hancock.”
