Perham Splits Pair of Road Games

Perham played a pair of road games on Saturday, beating Anoka 9-5 and losing to Andover 14-9. 

The Yellowjackets overcame a 5-4 deficit with four runs in the top of the sixth inning and tacked on another in the seventh in their victory over Anoka.  Hitting leaders were Rian Solberg (3-4, 3 RBI), Andrew Smith (2-5, 2B, RBI, 2R), Ben Shumansky (1-2, BB, 2 RBI, 2R) and Chas Melvin (1-4, HBP, RBI, 2R).  Austin Schmelz (2IP, 2H, BB) pitched two scoreless innings of relief to earn the win.

Andover took a 7-0 lead after three innings in game two, but Perham put three on the board in the sixth.  A 7-run top of the seventh gave Andover a 14-3 lead, however, the Yellowjackets didn’t go down easily as they scored six in the bottom of the seventh.  Offensive leaders were Shumansky (3-4, 2 RBI, 2R), Jack Mensing (0-2, BB, HBP, 2R, 3 RBI), Smith (2-4, BB, R) and Jacob McAllister (1-3, 2B, BB, 2 RBI).
