Jaden Norby keyed a pair of Ashby wins on Tuesday as he drove in four runs in a 12-2 win over Border West in the first game of a double header in Graceville, and then didn’t allow a single run as he shutout the Buccaneers 13-0 on four hits in the nightcap.

In game one Norby drove in runs with a home run in the third, a double in the fourth and a single in the fifth.  Ashby took the lead for good with five runs in the third inning.  Hunter Norby pitched the Arrows to victory, allowing two hits and two runs over five innings, striking out five and walking one.  Ashby tallied 14 hits on the day with Carter Spangler, Evan Paulson and both Norby’s contributing multiple hit efforts.  Spangler led the way with 4 hits in 4 at bats.

In game two, Ashby scored six runs in the fourth inning and that was more than enough for Norby, who struck out 11 batters and issued just one walk in his complete game effort.  Offensive support came from Mattson Hoff with a pair of hits, including a home run, and Paulson, who also collected two hits in the contest.  The Arrows backed up Norby’s pitching by playing error free ball behind him.

“We had solid performances on the mound and hit the ball hard today,” said Ashby Head Coach Jared Larson.  “It was fun to see Zach Fagre, Sam Sorenson and Bradee Christiansen get some playing time as well.  Great team wins.”

Ashby (6-0) will host a pair of double headers next week, playing Brandon-Evansville on Tuesday, May 4 and West Central Area on Thursday, May 6.
