The M State baseball team sent 12 batters to the plate in a six-run second inning to take control of their game against Itasca on Thursday afternoon in Fergus Falls.  The Spartans went on to record an 11-6 win in the first game of their double header.  Itasca won the nightcap by the score of 10-7.

“I thought we did a great job of coming to the park with energy which can be tough when you play 5 games in 3 days,” said M State Head Coach Grant Harding. “I thought Liam Kaminski was really good out of the bullpen today. We just couldn't find a way to hang on in game two but I think we are making good progress as we head into a big conference series this weekend.”

Hitting leaders in game one were Christian Norby (2-5, 2 2B, 2R, 3 RBI), Wyatt Hamann (2-3, 3 RBI, BB, R) and Dane Schwirtz (2-4, 3R).  Justin Dykhoff scored 3 runs, reaching base twice on walks and once on an error.

In game two, Kyle Doup and Isaiah Sykora each drove in a run with a base hit and Justin Dykhoff delivered a 2-run double.

The Spartans will travel to Brainerd for a pair of games with Central Lakes on Saturday and will host the Raiders in a double header on Sunday in Fergus Falls.
