As Jared Larson begins his seventh year leading the Ashby baseball team he does so with a solid nucleus of players with varsity experience returning after missing the 2020 season due to COVID19.  Noah Johnson graduated last spring, missing out on his senior season, however, the Arrows have a ton of returning talent.

Senior Jaden Norby (P/IF/OF) leads the group and he is joined by fellow senior Miles Hoff (P/UT), juniors Hunter Norby (P/1B), Torin Olson (P/IF), Carter Spangler (P/3B), Carson Spangler (P/OF) and Evan Paulson (P/OF).

Larson, who will be assisted by Dwight Walvatne and Cole Ellison, is looking to junior Mattson Hoff (C/OF) and sophomore Brodie Ecker (P/IF) to step in and contribute to the lineup.

“We have a ton of experience that will be on the field this year and a ton of pitching depth,” acknowledged Coach Larson.  “I can’t say that I have ever been a part of a team that has as many arms as we do.  These young men have a very high baseball IQ and tons of athletic ability.  I am really looking forward to seeing how they perform!  We have a very tough conference and section and I am anticipating a lot of tight, hard-fought games this season.  It is just a great feeling to be able to play baseball again!”

Larson sees Hancock and West Central Area as the favorites in the Pheasant Conference, while New York Mills and KMS should be at the top of Section 6A.
