The Alexandria girls’ hockey team saw their 12 game unbeaten streak come to an end in a 2-1 double overtime loss to Minnetonka in the Class AA State quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.  Alexandria’s season ends with a record of 14-5-2.

Cardinal goalie Jordan O’Kane was outstanding, turning aside 57 Minnetonka shots on goal.

Kayley Crawford’s goal from Lindzi Avar at 15:30 of the second period gave the Skippers a 1-0 lead, however, with just 14 seconds left in regulation time the Cardinals tied the game on a goal by Ella Westlund.  Assists went to Marki Oberg and Hanley Block.

The first overtime period was scoreless, but at 2:36 of the second OT Crawford notched the game winner with assists from Olivia LaRoche and Hanna Baskin.
