Otter Boys Lose Double Overtime Heartbreaker to Little Falls

Fergus Falls and Little Falls combined for 96 shots on goal in the Section 6A boys’ hockey championship game on Thursday night as the Flyers won the double overtime thriller by the score of 2-1 with the game winner coming at 13:05 of the second overtime period.

 

Ben Swanson stopped 46 Little Falls shots in the Fergus Falls net and Dane Couture came up with 47 saves for the Flyers.

 

Little Falls scored at 13:44 of the opening period when Matt Filippi buried the puck from Nicholas Stevens and Hayden Johnson.

 

The second period was scored and the Otters tied the game at 2:09 of the third on a power play goal by Isaac Johnson, assisted by Colton Partain.  The goal was the 21st of the year for Johnson.

Following a scoreless 8 minute overtime session, the two teams hit the ice for a 17-minute OT period which ended when George Moore scored on the power play, from Gunnar Gustafson.

 

Fergus Falls ends the season with a final record of 15-4.

 

Little Falls takes a 13-4-1 record into the Class A State Tournament.
