Fergus Falls sophomore goalie Ben Swanson stopped all 33 shots he faced on Tuesday night as the Otters posted a 3-0 shutout win over Alexandria in the Section 6A boys’ hockey semifinals.  They will now travel to Little Falls for the Section championship game on Thursday night against the Flyers, who beat Sartell 3-1 in the other semifinal contest.

Following a scoreless first period Michael DeBrito got the Otters on the board with an assist from Landon Thacker at 3:11 of the second period.

At 11:40 of the third period Isaac Johnson’s goal from Cole Zierden and Matthew Niblock gave the Otters a 2-0 lead.  Johnson notched his second goal of the night and 20th of the season as he put the puck into an empty net with just five seconds to play, putting the final score at 3-0.

Alexandria goalie Christopher Loken came up with 29 saves on 32 Otter shots.

Fergus Falls will take a record of 15-3 into Little Falls, facing a Flyers team that is 12-4-1.  The Flyers beat the Otters 4-3 in Little Falls on March 8.
