Fergus Falls outshot Breckenridge-Wahpeton 75-10 on Friday night as the Otters won their opening round playoff game by the score of 8-1. Fergus Falls came out strong with 29 first period shots on goal, taking a 3-0 lead after one. They put 29 shots on net in the second period also, as they added three more goals for a 6-0 lead at the second intermission The Otters had 17 more shots in the third, scoring two more times, while allowing a goal to the Blades in the final period. Fergus Falls had 8 different goal scorers in the game and 12 different players registered a point.
Michael DeBrito got the scoring started at 6:20 of the opening period, assisted by Landon Thacker. At 9:09 Isaac Young scored from Andrew Johnson and DeBrito, and just 33 seconds later Logen Schake notched a goal from Kellen Stenstrom and Ian Richards.
An unassisted goal by Isaac Johnson made it a 4-0 game 1:24 into the second period. A Landon Thacker power play goal at 11:59 was assisted by Young and Richards, and just 34 seconds later Cole Zierden found the back of the net with assists from Isaac Johnson and Matthew Niblock, giving the Otters a 6-0 lead after two.
In the third period Carter Thielke scored from Young at 5:54 and then Breck-Wahp notched their lone goal of the night on an unassisted tally from Bjorn Birkelo. Noah Tarczon scored unassisted at 13:29 for the final Otter goal of the game.
Ben Swanson stopped 9-of-10 shots for the Otters and Breck-Wahp goalie Jared Aamold registered 67 saves.
Fergus Falls (14-3) will host Alexandria (9-9-1) at 7:00pm Tuesday.
