The Underwood girls’ basketball team took the number two seed in the North half of Section 6A into their playin game against Ada-Borup West on Wednesday night and the Rockets posted a 76-40 home court victory over the Cougars. Underwood led 38-21 at the half.
Leaders for the Rockets were Josey Bugbee (18 points, 7 rebounds, 7 steals), Liz Lukken (15 points, 4 steals), Mo Bugbee (12 points, 3 steals, 3 assists) and Ezrah Baker (11 points, 4 steals).
“We played decent at times, we struggled at others,” assessed Underwood Head Coach Brian Hovland. “I was very happy with our defense. We did a good job of getting into passing lanes and taking away the easy drives to the basket. Ezrah gave us a big spark in the first half of the game. We got a lot of great play off the bench.”
Underwood improved to 16-3 with the win. They will host New York Mills (14-4) at 7:00pm Friday in the 6A quarterfinals.
