The Underwood Rockets traveled to Moorhead on Tuesday night to face the Park Christian Falcons in the section 6A North Boys’ Basketball play in game.  The Rockets and Falcons battled with blows back and forth to each other the entire night, with the Falcons coming out on top by a score of 56-43.  The first half saw both teams go at each other, exchanging leads and neither team being able to pull ahead.  The Falcons used a wide advantage on the rebounding total to stay even with the Rockets in the first half, heading to the locker room tied, 23-23.

"We really came out with the fire and intensity that we needed to start the game,” commented Underwood Head Coach Evan Meece.  “Our defense was flying all over the place and causing tipped passes the whole time.  If it wasn't for second chance points in the first half, we would have had a good halftime lead."

The Falcons came out of the gate quickly in the second half to put the pressure on Underwood, slowly increasing their lead.  The Rockets were unable to recover from the way the Falcons came out of the locker room in the second half, Park Chrisitan ended up pulling away with a 56-43 victory.

"They made the adjustments early in the second half to move the ball better and keep better care of it,” noted Coach Meece.  “They also adjusted their defensive pressure and we weren't able to keep pace."

The Rockets were led by Senior Krosby Aasness with 16 points, with 7th grader Drew Evavold adding 9 points and 5 steals and senior Joey Kupfer adding 8 points and a team high 11 rebounds.  Evan Lundgren had 5 steals and Cole Peterson had 3 assists and 5 rebounds.  The Falcons were led by Riley Erkenbrack with 13 and Josh Boyko with 11.  Max Albrecht and Alex Strom led the Falcons with 8 rebounds apiece.

"I was extremely proud of the way we played tonight,” concluded Meece.  “We could have easily come into this game and rolled over, knowing the way the first matchup with them went.  But instead, we battled all the way to the very end of the game.  I want to thank my 2 senior captains Krosby and Joey for their leadership of a very young team this season.  They are both extremely great young men with great futures ahead of them and their leadership both on and off the court will be greatly missed."

Park Christian had a tremendous night on the boards, grabbing 57 rebounds (24 offensive), while Underwood had 37.  The Rockets struggled from the field, making just 29% (14-48) of their shots, while the Falcons hit 35% (22-62) of their field goal attempts.
