Lexi Metcalf saw only 11 shots in the Fergus Falls net on Tuesday night, but she stopped all of them as the Otters recorded a 7-0 shutout victory over Morris-Benson Area in the quarterfinal round of the Section 6A Girls’ Hockey Playoffs.

The Otters struck early and often, scoring five first period goals.  Ellie Andersen and Maddie Hulter scored unassisted goals a little over a minute apart to start the game.  Kelsi Beck scored from Hope Goepferd to increase the Fergus Falls lead to 3-0 and Hulter’s goal from Jadyn Bye made it a 4-0 game.  Hulter notched an unassisted goal to complete the hat trick and allow the Otters to take a 5-0 lead into the intermission.

The second period was scoreless, but the Otters put two goals up in the final period.  The first came at 7:19 with Goepferd scoring from Skye Norgren.  The last goal found the back of the net with only 42 seconds remaining when Andersen scored her second of the night, assisted by Hulter and Hannah Johnson.

The number 3 seeded Otters will play their semifinal round game at second-seeded River Lakes on Thursday night.
