Otter Boys Suffer Overtime Loss to Bemidji

Bemidji scored three power play goals on Saturday, including the game winner 28 seconds into overtime, as the Lumberjacks recorded a 5-4 win over the Otter boys’ hockey team.  Bemidji had 28 shots on goal, compared to 22 for Fergus Falls.

An unassisted, short handed goal by Tate Hammitt at 2:30 of the opening period gave Bemidji a 1-0 lead.

Isaac Young tied the game at 3:11 of the second with an unassisted tally, but Bemidji regained the lead just 45 seconds later when Ethan Maish scored from Hunter MarcotteLandon Thacker’s second goal of the season on the power play pulled the Otters even at 16:23, assisted by Michael DeBrito.

Bemidji’s first power play goal gave them a 3-2 lead at 4:04 of the third period as Wyatt Mattfield scored from Wylee Gladen and Maish.  The Otters tied the game at 5:13 when Matthew Niblock scored from Isaac Johnson.  Another Bemidji power play goal, this one from Connor Savard, assisted by Marcotte, put Bemidji in front 4-3, however, DeBrito scored from Andrew Johnson at 14:35, tying the game and forcing OT.

Twenty-eight seconds into overtime, again on the power play, Bemidji got the game winner from Gladen, assisted by Hammitt and Maish.

Fergus Falls (13-3) will host a playoff game on Friday night against a yet to be determined opponent.
