Leach Paces DGF to Overtime Win Over Perham

Perham and DGF battled through overtime in their Heart O’ Lakes Conference boys’ basketball matchup on Saturday in Glyndon with the Rebels pulling out a 58-55 victory over the Yellowjackets.  Perham led 28-24 at the half, but DGF outscored them 24-20 over the final 18 minutes of regulation to force the OT.  The Rebels put up 10 points to the Yellowjackets 7 in the extra period.  Perham had won an earlier season meeting by 3 points, also in overtime.

Owen Leach had a big day for the Rebels, scoring 29 points and pulling down 10 rebounds.  Logan Bitker contributed 12 points and DGF shot 52.5% (36-58) from the field, while making 11-of-15 (73%) of their free throws.

Leaders for Perham were Finn Diggins (16 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals), Micah Thompson (9 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists), Grant McMartin (9 points, 3 assists), Elijah Morris (8 points, 4 rebounds) and Soren Anderson (8 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists).  Perham shot just 39% (19-49) from the floor, but made 71.4% (10-14) of their foul shots.

DGF (10-6) will close out their regular season schedule with a home game against Barnesville on Monday night.

Perham (13-5) finishes with a 9-3 HOL record, tying Breckenridge for first place in the conference.
