Knights win on Senior Night

On Friday night, the WCA Knights honored their five seniors Grant Beuckens, Xander Bontjes, Tate Christenson, Nathaniel Junker, and Brady Reeve. The seniors led the Knights to an 83-38 win over the CGB Wolverines.  The Knights hit 33-53 shots for 62% from the field and they were hot from the 3-point line with six different players hitting threes going 9-20 overall for 45%.  The Knights held CGB to 14-39 from the field for 36% and the Wolverines hit 7-24 threes.

Knights Coach Kraig Hunter said, "It was a very special night honoring five special individuals.  We have been blessed over the years to have a community that raises such good people. These five guys are exceptional people, exceptional students in the classroom and great role models.  It is easy for fans to pull for people like them.  They really set the tone and led us tonight."

The Knights had a balanced attack led by Beuckens who scored 23 points, grabbed 3 boards and had 3 steals; Christenson added 13 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals; Reeve had 12 points and 3 rebounds; Ryder Staples scored 11 points, had 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals; and Bontjes had a strong game scoring 9 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals.

Others contributing for the Knights were Cam Anderson with 3 points, 4 assists, 1 rebound, and 1 steal; Jacob Strunk had 2 points, led the team with 7 rebounds, and had 2 steals; Cole Anderson had 2 points, 3 rebounds and an assist; Nas Dotts scored 2 points and had 1 rebound; Peyton Hanson had 2 points, 1 rebound and 1 assist; Isaac Kreft had 2 points, Damon Sanstead 2 points, Nathaniel Junker had 1 rebound, Romah Mihailovschi had 1 steal, and Tyler Biss had 1 blocked shot.

Scoring for CGB were Cole Gilsdorf with 16 points, Chuck Kleindl had 7 points, Nate Moberg 5 points, Jans Jorgenson 5 points, Lucas Wulff 4 points, and Isaac Haanen 1 point.

The Knights won the rebounding battle 31-19 and only turned the ball over 5 times compared to 17 for CGB. The Knights hit 8-12 free throws and CGB hit 3-5.
