It was a senior night to remember in the Battle Lake gymnasium on Thursday night as the Battlers hosted the Underwood Rockets in a Little Eight Conference matchup. Battle Lake got off to a hot start and never looked back. They ended up winning the game 82-38, but the story of the night was senior manager Buddy Kohlmeier suiting up for the Battlers. Kohlmeier was in the starting lineup with fellow seniors Brady VanErp, Nick Carter-Fischer, and Kayne Cameron (senior captain Drew Durbin was inactive tonight because of an ill family member).

"Our plan was to have Buddy in the game until he either scored or attempted three shots,” commented Head Coach Tyler Owen. “After he attempted his third shot without the results we wanted, I decided to sub in our usual starter Drew Johnson for him since this game had playoff implications and we needed to win desperately. As Johnson sat next to the scorers’ table ready to enter the game, Kohlmeier got one more shot attempt... After a missed three pointer by Battle Lake, Nick Carter-Fischer pulled down an offensive rebound and found Kohlmeier wide open at the elbow. Kohlmeier didn't hesitate. He put up the shot and knocked it down, bringing the Battle Lake fans to their feet!"

With a big Battle Lake lead in the second half, Kohlmeier saw the floor again for the final four minutes of the game. He went on to knock down one of two free throws, and also finished the game with a buzzer beater, giving him a total of 5 points on the night.

The Battlers finished the game with four players in double digits. Owen Buehler led the way with 16, followed by Kayne Cameron with 15, Brady VanErp with 12, and Nick Carter-Fischer with 10. In all, ten Battler Lake players scored during the game as the Battlers closed out the regular season with an overall record of 6-11.
