Willmar Scores 4 First Period Goals in 5-1 Win Over Otter Girls

The Willmar girls’ hockey team outshot Fergus Falls 40-20 on Thursday night as the Cardinals posted a 5-1 victory over the Otters in a Central Lakes Conference matchup in Willmar.

Bailey Olson scored a pair of unassisted short handed goals in the first period to stake the Cardinals to a 2-0 lead.  Madison Garberding, assisted by Makenna Larson, and Nina Dawson, assisted by Ashley Larson and Tanna Christensen, also scored first period goals as the Cardinals built a 4-0 lead after one.

Ashley Larson scored from Dawson at 1:40 of the third to make it 5-0 and the Otters got their goal at 1:59 when Ellie Andersen converted from Jadyn Bye.

Fergus Falls (8-8-1) will end their regular season schedule with a home game against Bemidji on Friday night.
