New York Mills held Wadena-Deer Creek to 31 points on Thursday night as the Eagles posted a 54-31 girls’ basketball victory over the Wolverines.

Isabella Bauck connected on three 3’s and led New York Mills with 14 points.  Kali Olson and Megan Riedel added 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Top scorers for Wadena-Deer Creek were Montana Carsten with 9 and Nevada Schulz with 7.

“Tough one tonight in New York Mills,” said Wolverines Head Coach Jordan Cresap. “Slow start made it tough to climb back into the game. Their physicality and athleticism forced us into some poor decisions and too many TO’s in the first half. We couldn’t match their effort on the boards either. We responded well late in the first half and made a nice comeback, just wasn’t enough.”

New York Mills (13-4) closes the regular season on a 7 game winning streak.

Wadena-Deer Creek (7-10) plays their regular season finale on Saturday afternoon in Walker.
