The Perham boys’ basketball team overcame a 25-20 halftime deficit and went on to record a 55-49 Heart O’ Lakes Conference win over Pelican Rapids.

Perham made 44.4% (20-45) of their field goal attempts, 7-of-19 (37%) from 3-point range and 8-of-11 free throws.  Finn Diggins had a huge game with 28 points and 15 rebounds.  Elijah Morris contributed 8 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals, Gabe Thompson had 8 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists, and Micah Thompson finished with 6 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals.

McHale Korf and Jayden Rutherford led the Vikings with 19 and 16 points, respectively.

“We played with good energy and effort tonight, but just had some lapses on the offensive end throughout the game,” said Pelican Rapids Head Coach John Gullingsrud. “We had some missed layups and free throws in the first half that could have put us in a better spot going into halftime and in the second half we were unable to find a rhythm and eventually our defense wore down.”

Pelican Rapids (8-8) will play at Hawley on Saturday afternoon.

Perham (13-4) plays DGF in Glyndon on Saturday night.
