Otter Girls Extend Winning Streak to Ten Games

The Fergus Falls girls’ basketball team extended their winning streak to ten games with a 57-52 victory over the Willmar Cardinals on Monday night at the Kennedy Secondary School.  The Otters led 29-22 at the half.

Willmar overcame a 46-39 deficit to tie the game at 46-46.  The game was even at 48-48, however, the Otters scored 9 of the last 13 points.  Ellie Colbeck scored 22 points, pulled down 8 rebounds and dished out 10 assists.  Logan Strom connected on five 3’s, finishing 15 points and 2 assists.  Hannah Polejewski finished with 9 points and 6 rebounds.  Paige Pearson collected 7 rebounds and Anna Anderson had 6 rebounds and 2 steals.  Ainsley Hansen chipped in with 6 points and 6 rebounds. The Otters held a 39-21 advantage on the boards.

“Incredible team win tonight against a very good Willmar team that beat us at their place earlier,” said Head Coach Brad Strand of the Otters.  “We had so many different girls step up tonight and make big plays when we needed them on both ends.  The coaches are very proud of their effort.”

Fergus Falls played without junior Tori Ratz who was out with an illness.

The Otters take a 13-3 record into their Thursday home game against Alexandria.

Fergus Falls won the JV game 51-38.  They were led by Karley Braeger with 14 points.

In the ninth grade game, Fergus Falls defeated Willmar 38-25.  Brynn Sternberg scored 10 points to lead the Otters.
