Spartan Men Yield 104 Points in Road Loss to Riverland

The M State Men’s basketball team traveled to Austin on Saturday where they fell to Riverland Community College, 104-72.  The Blue Devils led 47-33 at the half and outscored the Spartans 57-39 over the final 20 minutes of play.

Riverland was led by 17 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists from Lajarrion SpinksCleveland Bedgood added 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and Dominik Bangu came off the bench to contributed 14 points and 4 rebounds.  Derrick Ousley chipped in with 10 points, 3 rebounds and 3 steals.  Jamari Magee dished out 4 assists on the day.  Riverland made 54% (42-78) of their field goal attempts, hitting 10-of-26 (38.5%) from 3-point land and making 83.3% (10-12) of their free throws.

The Spartans shot 49% (28-57) overall and 45.8% (11-24) on 3’s.  They made all five of the free throws they attempted in the game.  Kellen Hinsz led M State with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists.  Nic Pearson scored 13 points and distributed 5 assists.  Carter Cresap was in double digits with 10 points on 4-of-4 shooting.  He also had 6 boards and 2 assists.  Renell Edwards had a solid stat line of 8 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists.

M State (1-5) is off until Tuesday, March 16 when they travel to play Sisseton-Wahpeton.  They will be home against the same team on Wednesday, March 17.
