Parkers Prairie and Henning battled in a non-conference boys’ basketball game on Saturday afternoon in Henning with the Panthers taking a 34-30 halftime lead on the way to a 69-56 victory.

“Our kids played really hard for 36 minutes which is all we can ask them to do,” stated Henning Head Coach Randy Misegades. “Parkers Prairie is an athletic, big, physical, and skilled team. We competed with them for a majority of the game, but just didn’t make enough plays to come away with a win. We’re proud of our effort against a quality opponent and hope we can build off this game as we enter the final week of the regular season.”

Leaders for the Hornets were Mason Hammer (21 points, 6 rebounds), Tyson Misegades (14 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists) and Tanner Arndt (7 points, 5 assists).  Calvin Stueve had a team high 3 steals and Joe Angell led the squad with 9 rebounds.

Parkers Prairie (12-3) has now won five straight games.  They will play at Long Prairie-Grey Eagle on Monday night and then will host Ashby on Thursday and Park Christian School on Saturday.

Henning (10-5) plays at home against Wadena-Deer Creek on Monday and against Verndale on Friday, before closing out their regular season schedule with a Saturday afternoon game in Underwood.
