Evan Olstad made 11-of-16 field goal attempts on the way to a 27 point performance on Saturday afternoon, leading the Hillcrest boys’ basketball team to an 80-52 victory over the Underwood Rockets.  Olstad hit 5-of-8 from beyond the arc.

The first half saw the Rockets battle back and forth with the Comets, until Hillcrest went on a run in the last 5 minutes to take a halftime lead of 37-19.

The Rockets tried to chip away at the lead, but the Comets were too much for them in the second half.  The Comets forced Underwood to 30 turnovers and scored 24 points off of those turnovers, as well as 32 second chance points.

Micah Foss turned in a solid performance with 17 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals.  Noah Brumfield contributed 11 points, 4 rebounds and 3 steals.  Zeke Ihrke and Sam Brumfield each had a team high 5 assists.

Krosby Aasness led the Rockets with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Evan Lundgren and Drew Evavold each contributed 7 points.  Gavin Pausch distributed 5 assists and hit a pair of 3’s for his 6 points.

"We simply turned the ball over way too many times today,” commented Underwood Head Coach Evan Meece.  “We knew what Hillcrest was going to bring at us defensively, but we were not able to handle the pressure and allowed them far too many transition points.  In the half-court, our defense looked really good, but we weren't able to slow down their attack enough with too many turnovers."

Hillcrest (10-5) has three home games next week to close out their regular season schedule, hosting Ortonville on Monday, Rothsay on Thursday and West Central Area on Saturday.

Underwood (0-15) is at CGB Tuesday, at Battle Lake Thursday and at home against Henning on Saturday.
