Battle Lake Girls Win at Home Against Verndale

The Battle Lake girls’ basketball team got off to a great start on Saturday afternoon as they built a 40-18 halftime lead over Verndale.  They extended their lead to start the second half, but the Pirates fought back to make the final score 67-38.

“We had a really nice balanced game tonight with three girls in double digits and a total of 6 girls scoring,” said Battle Lake Head Coach David Marso

The leading scorers for the lady Battlers were Ady Tysdal with a season high 24 points, Grace VanErp with 18 points and Morgan Malone rounding things off with 13 points.  Morgan also dominated on the boards for Battle Lake. 

Reagan Ludovissie led the Pirates with 16 points.  

Battle Lake (7-9) will play at Underwood on Monday and will host Hillcrest on Friday.

Verndale (1-14) is at Menahga on Monday and Sebeka on Thursday before returning home to close out their regular season schedule against Bertha-Hewitt on Friday.
