Barnesville Boys' Shoot 56% in Win Over Breckenridge

The Barnesville boys’ basketball team defeated Breckenridge by a score of 81-78 on Friday night. Barnesville led 33-20, however, the Cowboys finished the first half on a 16-3 run to pull even at 36-36 at the half. Barnesville shot 56% (32-57) for the night, making 8-of-15 (53%) from beyond the arc.  Breckenridge made 46% (30-64) of their field goal attempts.

“There was an outstanding atmosphere in the gym tonight and we played really well,” stated Barnesville Assistant Coach Tracy Hinsz.  “Jack Nielsen really stepped up for us, scoring 13 points and making 3 big 3’s.  Tate Inniger was also solid with 10 points in a reserve role.”

Adam Tonsfeldt scored 28 points, dished out 8 assists and recorded 3 steals to lead the Trojans.  Kaden Zenzen had a double-double (24 points, 12 rebounds).  Nielsen added 4 rebounds and 4 assists.

Leading scorers for the Cowboys were Jonah Christensen with 20, Cooper Yaggie with 17, Sebastian Anderson with 14, and Adam Ohm and Anthony Conzemius each with 9. Christensen added 9 rebounds, Yaggie had 8, and Conzemius with 6. Yaggie also added 3 assists. 

Barnesville (9-5) will travel to Barrett to face West Central Area on Monday night.

Breckenridge (10-4) saw their four game winning streak come to an end.  The Cowboys will play at Moorhead on Saturday night.
