Alexandria fired 41 shots at the St. Cloud net on Thursday and Cardinals goaltender Jordan O’Kane stopped 18 of 19 shots she faced as the Alexandria girls’ hockey team posted a 3-1 win over the Ice Breakers.

Following a scoreless first period, Lauren Maras converted on the power play to give the Cardinals a 1-0 lead at 14:40 of the second period.  Anna Doherty and Makenna Aure registered assists on the goal.

A 9:50 of the third, Alexandria struck again.  This time Peyton Boesl scored from Maras and the Cardinals led 2-0.  Cailey Davidson countered for St. Cloud at 14:36 with an assist from Ava Schmidt, cutting the Alexandria lead in half, however, an unassisted empty net goal by Doherty sealed the deal with just four seconds remaining in the game.

Alexandria (9-4-1) won for a sixth straight time.  They will entertain Bemidji in their final home game on Monday night.
