The Fergus Falls boys’ basketball team led the entire game in Bemidji on Thursday, recording a 55-49 win over the Lumberjacks.  Bemidji cut the lead to one point with under 11 minutes to play in the game, however, Fergus Falls built the lead to 50-41 with 2:40 left.  The Lumberjacks then delivered a pair of 3-point plays on their next two possessions, pulling to within 3 points at 50-47.  Dominic Aguilar and Luke Newman each made two free throws within 30 seconds to seal the win.

Aguilar (13 points, 3 assists), Newman (12 points, 9 rebounds), Kaden Conklin (12 points, 2 assists) and Elliot Pribbenow (8 points) led the Otters.  Fergus Falls made 11-of-13 free throws on the night and shot the ball at a 39% (20-51) clip.  They took excellent care of the ball with only 7 turnovers.

“It was a great team effort tonight,” commented Fergus Falls Head Coach Matt Johnson.  “We have been playing hard, but tonight put together a more complete game.  I thought Kaden Conklin and Elliot Pribbenow had a huge impact on the game, contributing in the scoring column.  We were also much better attacking the rim, which has been a focus of ours.  Luke and Abel Aho had some really nice finishes in traffic. Bemidji made one last push, but Dom and Kaden made clutch free throws to hold them off.”

Bemidji hit 36% (18-50) of their field goal attempts and held a 37-25 edge on the boards, however, they also had 17 turnovers on the night.  They were led by Gavin Lukskik with 12 points and 14 rebounds.  Isaac Severts added 10 points.

Fergus Falls (8-7) will host Perham on Saturday afternoon.
